I just want to send a big thank you to you, and everyone at Logometrix.

My 11-yr. old son was born with cleft lip, alveolar ridge (gum line) and palate.

Several surgeries and years of speech therapy later, he still has a ways to go and was so frustrated with traditional speech therapy.

When he would need to speak to someone new who did not know him, he would look down, speak fast, and so quiet, not at all like the loud happy boy he is when he is speaking with family or friends.

This year he is in a speech study with Dr. Anna Schmidt at Kent State University in Ohio. Through a research grant and Anna’s help through our craniofacial clinic, my son was able to get into a program using the LogoMetrix Palatometer this summer.

I am amazed at the progress he has made in such a short time. In a matter of one week, I could hear a difference in his R’s, something he has been working on for years.

He has a ways to go, but has new hope.

Thank you again.
Melissa

I grew up in Shawnee Park Michigan and attended the Oral Deaf School Grand Rapids. I attended therapy to help me speak for 17 years but it didn’t help. I am profoundly deaf and have been since birth. My speech has never been good due to the deafness.

I have worked at Qwest Dex as a graphic artist since 1991. This is a position where I have tried to communicate with co-workers and customers while I create their ads. Due to my speech limitations I have been forced to communicate via pen and paper or through mime. I really want to talk with them instead of always writing down all our words.

I am proud to be a deaf person and consequently my language of American sign language will not change. I just want to speak. In fact I want to speak as well as a hearing person. I have a lot of hearing friends and realize they do not speak sign language and they grow tired of writing everything down on paper. I feel left out and have felt so for a long time.

While at work I was approached by John Lundberg representing LogoMetrix, a company dedicated to helping people with speech problems learn how to talk. I was afraid they would try to change me to the hearing world culture. In talking with him and their therapist Dr. Samuel G. Fletcher, I realized that they were not interested in changing my deaf culture. They just wanted to help me and other deaf people talk better.

I was surprised that the science LogoMetrix uses is over 30 years old, but the technology is new and improved. I learned to speak many years ago with a therapist sticking a pencil into my mouth. I decided to try the LogoMetrix meathod and I am impressed. After only 7 hours of therapy with Dr. Fletcher I went to some of my hearing friends in public and spoke. My friend told me that my speech was very much improved from before. I knew it was the difference made by LogoMetrix.

I suggest you try it and realize that they are not interested in changing the deaf culture. They just want to provide deaf people with the opportunity of communicating without pen, paper or mime. I know that LogoMetrix is successful.

Sincerely,
Glenn Brower
